Mandatory Credit: Patrick Gorski-Imagn Images After waiting in vain for Luis Robert Jr.'s strained hamstring to get better, the Chicago White Sox placed their center fielder on the 10-day injured list prior to Sunday's game with the San Francisco Giants.
The move is retroactive to June 26, with the White Sox not expected to replace Robert on the 26-man roster until Tuesday, before the opener of a road series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Robert, 27, has struggled through career-lows in batting average (.185), on-base percentage (.270) and slugging percentage (.313). Through 73 games, he has amassed just 16 extra-base hits (eight doubles, eight home runs) in 285 plate appearances.
He has made the most of the time he has been on base with 22 stolen bases in 28 attempts. He's just one shy of his career-high in steals.
Robert has not played since Wednesday, when the White Sox pinch-hit for him in the bottom of the first inning after he strained his hamstring against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
